Barcelona, March 23, 2023 – Nologin will participate in the presentation, next Monday March 27th, of the OSPAC on-line tool, implemented as a pilot case for the port and the city of Barcelona, in the framework of the European project EuroSea: Improving and Integrating European Ocean Observing and Forecasting Systems for Sustainable use of the Oceans.
This project, in which 55 institutions from 16 countries are participating, aims to establish a European ocean monitoring and forecasting system designed to guarantee society is access to essential information adapted to its needs in aspects such as safety or sustainable development.
To achieve this objective, European institutions with experience in this field, the scientific community and users of oceanographic products and services will be involved in determining research and innovation priorities, as well as the requirements for new operational tools.
The OSPAC (Operational Services for the Port and the City) tool, developed jointly by Puertos del Estado and Nologin Consulting, is a one-stop shop for meteorological and oceanic services that provides the user with all the real-time information and forecasts for the coming days in the coastal area associated with the Port and the City. Its capacity for personalized configuration and management of alerts for exceeding thresholds allows planning maritime activities with greater security, as well as facilitating the environmental management of the coast. This tool will be implemented within the framework of Eurosea in three pilot sites: Barcelona, Taranto (Italy) and Buenaventura (Colombia).
